Overview
While many manual therapists have learned a variety of treatment techniques to use, they often lack a proper foundation to apply them in the most appropriate manner. As a result, treatments may not be as effective as they could be. This course will explain the multiple factors involved in the clinical decision making process, which will enable the therapist to choose the best treatment path. We will discuss how to see the big picture via a thorough evaluation, create a complete problem list, understand necessary biomechanical and physiological concepts, determine a proper treatment order, decide which techniques to use at each step, and perform a good layer palpation to ensure treatment is localized to the right tissue layer. A good understanding of these principles is essential for being an effective manual therapist that consistently makes good clinical decisions.
